WHOOPEE

A DIY label, dedicated to the releases of Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band - an eccentric Trad Jazz ensemble - and its offshoots.  Whoopee started life in 1976; it was more of an album label than a 7" one, but its first release was an EP containing 'The Tap Dance Man', '5,000 Year Old Rock', 'Crazy' and 'Victoria & Albert' (WP-100 S; 5/79) and thus it qualifies for inclusion on this site.  A single,  'Remember Remember' b/w 'Pleasant Pluckin'' (WP-106 S) followed in 1981.  Whoopee continued to issue the occasional LP and CD up to 1995, and will presumably last as long as the band does.  Distribution in 1979 was by JSU.  Singles and albums shared a WP-100 numerical series; latterly the singles had an 'S' suffix, the albums an 'LP' one.   Pressing was by Lyntone, as the scan shows.
