WHITE
RUM
A Reggae label; Jamaican in origin,
as the label indicates. Mark Griffiths writes that White Rum was
owned by Bertram Brown, in association with Freedom Sounds (q.v.) records.
It issued at least two singles in Britain, in or around 1978, through Freedom
Sounds: 'Jah Music', by V. Jones (101-PROOF), and Philip Fraser's, 'Need To Be
Loved' (102-PROOF; 5/78). 'B' sides had a 'Red Stripe' label on
them. Distribution was by Mojo and Lightning.
