WEST OF ENGLAND SOUND
West Of England Sound
was a studio in Torquay, owned and run by Tony Waldron. From 1969 until
around 1976 it put out records on the Ra label (q.v.); the West Of England Sound
label would appear to have been a successor to Ra, though if it made any
records before the Tony Pinkerton EP shown above I have yet to find
them. The WE-007 catalogue number hints that such records may
exist, but with obscure labels there's always the chance that a '7' in the
number may merely reflect that fact that the record is a seven-incher.
WE-008 certainly exists; it came out on the Double H label (q.v.). As can
be seen from the scan, the Tony Pinkerton EP was issued in 1978. Later
that year the studio was bought by Steve Norris and was renamed Swan Street
Studios.
