WELSHDISC

A debatable one, to say the least.  I haven't been able to prove that Welshdisc is from the 1970s, but some sort of a case can be made for it being so.  Welsh Teldisc issued a couple of titles by Bob Roberts, 'Mari Fach Fy Nhgariad' b/w 'Pobl Drws Nesa' in 1962, with a catalogue number of SP WD-905.  At some point that single was reissued on the Welshdisc label, as WD-905 - it appears to be Welshdisc's only release.   Welsh Teldisc only issued three EPs in 1970, so presumably it effectively ceased to function fairly early that year.  September 1970 saw the centenary of Bob Roberts's birth; if this record was no longer available through Welsh Teldisc the way would have been clear for enthusiasts to mark the occasion by licensing it and re-releasing it.  The new version kept the old catalogue number (minus the 'SP'), and the 'Recording first published 1962' on the label remained the same as on the original.  It is of course possible that the reissue took place earlier, at some point in the '60s, but there doesn't seem to be any particular reason for it to have done so then; whereas the centenary in 1970 would have provided a good reason.  In addition, for what its worth, the Welshdisc logo, with its italicized letters, has an 'early '70s' rather than a '1960s' look to it.  While not exactly confident, therefore, I'm sufficiently persuaded to give Welshdisc a place on this site pending confirmation one way or the other.  If anybody is able to provide that confirmation I'd be happy to hear from them.
