VOYAGE INTERNATIONAL
Basically a Reggae label, though it issued some Punk / New Wave singles,
such as A.D. 1984's, 'The Russians Are Coming' (VOY-005; 1979). Mark
Griffiths writes that Voyage International was owned by Reg Maclean, the former
head of Safari Records, and was associated with Circle International
Records (q.v. both). It appears to have operated from 1979-80; catalogue
numbers suggest that it issued at least sixteen singles but some numbers seem
not to have been used and it is reported that a couple of releases failed to get
past the test pressing stage. Numbering was in a VOY-000 series,
which eventually gained an extra '0'. According to 'Music Master'
distribution was by Pye for the first three singles, after which Pinnacle took
over.
