SOUL BREAKERS

A label for West Indian music, for part of its existence coming under the Plastic Fantastic umbrella.  Chris Scott appears to have been the man behind the Soul Breakers label: he was the producer of the majority of its records, and a couple of them had catalogue numbers with a 'CS' prefix.  The company concentrated on 12" singles but it managed two 7" ones: 'Freedom' b/w 'Freedom (Instrumental)' by the Doley Brothers & Blue Wonders (PFU-3001) was the first, 'Rosie' b/w 'Tilly' by Blue Wonders (PFU-3002) the second.  Neither had a date on it, but as all the other Plastic Fantastic singles date from 1977-79 it seems safe to place them in that period, with 1978 probably the best bet.  As can be seen, manufacture and distribution were by Pye.  Thanks to Robert Bowes for the scan and for drawing the label to my attention.
