ROMAN
A DIY label, operating out of premises in Church Street
Mews, Leominster. An EP entitled 'The Writer', by singer-songwriter
Benon Holland, came out on Roman Records in 1975 and appears to have been
the label's only release. Its catalogue number was BRH-1, which
suggests that Holland owned the label, and it contained the tracks 'Boots' and
'Mirror' in addition to the two named on the scan above. The
tracks were recorded in Herefordshire, and according to the notes on the sleeve
were intended merely as demos; they saw the light of day on the EP only as a
result of public demand. Thanks to Robert Bowes for bringing the
label to my attention, and to Tom Halliwell for providing the scans - the full
set can be seen on the appropriate 45cat page. See also 'Sounds
Studio Services', which was also from Church Street Mews,
