RFS
RFS - 'Radio Free Suzanne'
- was owned by American singer Suzanne Harris. According to 'Record
Retailer' (30th May 1970) she had had a single out on Polydor the previous
year, 'Go Out And Multiply (Are You Sure That's What God Said?)'
(56354; 1969), and had apparently run into controversy after singing the song - which was
in favour of birth control - in St. Peter's Square. Reckoning that she would
probably be cold-shouldered by record companies as a result, she had decided to issue her
next single, 'Here Come The Beautiful People' b/w 'We're Using Up
The World', herself; it would be available through 'Animals' magazine, by mail order.
The single had a catalogue number of RFS-8270, and came out on
the 26th of May 1970. Manufacture was by Pye. According to Robert Bowes, who
kindly brought the label to my attention and supplied the scan,
the record is Joan-Baez-type Folk.
