OBLIQUE
A DIY label. Oblique was owned by expatriate Scot Thomas
Leer, whose pioneering Post Punk single 'Private Plane' (ER-101; 1978) was its
only release. In typical DIY fashion the label was white with the
details ink-stamped onto it. There was an ER-102, 'Paralysis' by
Robert Rental, but that came out on the Regular label (q.v.). Leer
and Rental had come down from Scotland to London together around 1977; they
collaborated on an album, 'The Bridge', and were prominent figures on the early
'Synth / Industrial' scene. Both singles were reissued by Company
Records (q.v.), on the Company / Oblique and Company / Regular labels.
