MELODY AND RHYTHM / MAR
An obscure Anglo-Polish label, from Bolton.
Melody And Rhythm ran to at least four singles, most of which appear to have featured
a group called the Midland Revellers, individually or collectively.
They were numbered in two series, the UP-600s and the MAR-0s; in the case of
the latter each side had its own number. None of them had a date on
the labels, but fortunately MAR 3 / 4, 'Christmas Tree From Norway In
Trafalgar Square' b/w 'Hole In My Christmas Stocking' by The Grass Hoppers
with the John Carr Quintet, was made through custom recording firm
Deroy and had a Deroy matrix number, DER-600, which allows us to pin it
down to 1970. UP-667 was a Polish-language version of 'Delilah', which was
a hit for Tom Jones in the spring of 1968; that at least gives us a 'not before'
date. Thanks to Hawkmarty of the 45cat site for permission to use his scan here.
