MAD
DAN
Another mysterious label. Mad Dan released at
least one single in 1978, John Martin Harvie's, 'Song For Caroline' (MDS-1001),
and followed it up with a couple more in the following year. That
single also appears twice in 'New Singles' leaflets, for the 28th of July and
the 29th of September 1978, which agrees with the year that is
given on the label. Submarine Records (whoever they were)
were responsible for manufacture and distribution. Music Master gives
an issue date of July 1979, via distributors Lugtons, but that would
appear to be the time at which Lugtons started handling the
record. 'MM' also gives the label as 'Submarine', which may just be a
misunderstanding. Robert Bowes, who kindly supplied the scan, says that
the single can be filed under 'Folk'. The other two singles were 'Just
Another Cloud In The Sky' by Weatherman (MDS-1002) and Jon Morgan's 'Don't
Go Loving Me Now' (MDS-1003). The label of the latter was white with black
printing.
