MACDONALD JUNIOR REFERENCE LIBRARY
Primarily a series of
informative books for children, published by Macdonald between 1968 and
1974. However, several volumes in the series were accompanied by EPs,
which earned them a page on this site.
The EPs from the '60s had yellow labels with the words 'Junior
Reference Library' at the top and a reference to Macdonald at
the bottom (1), while the '70s versions had neither - if you
came across one that has been separated from its companion volume there
was no way of knowing what company was responsible for it (2). Pressing was done
through a company called Procaudio (q.v.), which seems to have specialized in sound / spoken
word records, and catalogue numbers were taken from Procaudio's own PC-000 series. PC-035 /
036 'Insects - Sounds From The Insect World' (1969) was
re-pressed and repackaged as 'Animal Sounds - Insects' in 1970, with
the same numbers. Thanks to Fokeman of the 45cat site for permission to use his scan of that EP here.
