LONDON BOROUGH OF....

In 1971 the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents produced a Road Safety single by the Children Of Argyle School, Camden.  It coupled their 'The Green Cross Code Song' with a track by Folk band Magna Carta, 'When You're Young'.  RoSPA appears to have made the recording available to other safety bodies, as it can be found credited to several other organizations, with the same matrix number (ROSPA-1) on the run-off and with an acknowledgement to RoSPA on the 'B' side label.  Examples that have surfaced so far were put out by the London Boroughs of Barking, Camden, Enfield, and Southwark; others were produced by the 'City Of Oxford Road Safety Campaign' and the 'Hackney Accident Prevention Committee', and there way well be more out there.  For simplicity's sake I've chosen to group them all together on one page.  The derivative labels were all of the same simple design; some had three-pronged push-out centres, others had large spindle holes and 'spiders'.  There was no catalogue number on the label, and no date.  To compare the original, see the 'RoSPA' page.  Pressing in all cases was by Phonodisc.
