KING GEORGE
A Reggae label. The only record on King George that I have
ever seen is the one pictured above, 'Mixed Up Man' by British band Black Slate;
it came out in 1976, and had a catalogue number of KG-001. Issues from
KG-003 (KG-002?) onwards came out on the Slate label (q. v.). Mark
Griffiths writes that King George was run by the keyboard player with
Black Slate at the time, 'Sir' George Brightly, who produced 'Mixed Up Man'; he
appears to have got promoted from 'Sir' to 'King' at some point, which isn't a
bad leap if you can make it.
