HEAVY

American.  The only Heavy record to achieve a British release was Corky Carroll's 'Skateboard Bill', which had a catalogue number of HE-101 ('HEAVY 1001' in the States) and came out in 1978.   Carroll was - and indeed is - an American surfing champion; he has released several records in the USA, most notably a single called 'Tan Punks On Boards' (an 'answer' record to The Tubes' 'White Punks On Dope') for Mike Nesmith's 'Pacific Arts' label.  'Skateboard Bill' has been described as 'Californian Surf Rock'.   The style of the matrix number on the run-off suggests a Decca pressing; marketing was by Criminal Records (q.v.).
