ELECTRIC MUSIC COMPANY
The Electric Music
Company was an offshoot of Scottish company S.M.D. Recordings, of
Paisley, which was better known for its Scotia and Moonbeam labels (q.v.
both). The only record it put out was the one shown above,
Mike Gill's self-penned Reggae-tinged instrumental 'Flossie Plinth', which came
out in 1976. Its catalogue number, EMC-4002, suggests that there
should be at least one other Electric Music Company single out
there, but Mike himself has kindly confirmed that
there was just the one release. The logo features a dragon, for some
reason. It's an unusual and - to my mind - quite attractive
label. The style of the matrix number in the run-off indicates a
Decca pressing.
