D & M SOUND
American;
a Disco music label, owned by Dave Miller and Marty Wilson. D & M Sound
seems to have made just a handful of records in the States, and only one of its
singles crossed the Atlantic. 'Music Week' of the 3rd of April 1976
reported that Monty Presky, managing director of Damont Records (q.v.), had launched D&M Sound in Britain as a licensed
label, and Camp Galore's 'Ballin' The Jack' b/w 'Boop Boop A Hustle' (IDM-5003) duly
appeared. The catalogue number of that single seems to have been a reflection of
its American number, 76-5003, not an indication that there were any others in
the IDM-5000 series. Promotional copies had an edited version of 'Ballin'
The Jack' on the 'B' side instead of 'Boop Boop A Hustle'.
There was also a Disco album released over here: 'Move It', by the
Great Majority (DML-1). Manufacture was by Damont themselves, and distribution
was by Selecta.
