DOUBLE HIP
A
DIY label. Double Hip's only '70s release was the first single by The
Associates, Boys Keep Swinging' (DH-1; 8/79). It brought the band to
the attention of MCA Records, who reissued it (MCA-537; 10/79). The
Associates went on to record for several more companies, including Fiction and
WEA, and hit the Charts seven times in the '80s. Associate Billy
Mackenzie put out a single called 'Ice Cream Factory' on Double Hip in 1982,
under the guise of 'Mackenzie Sings Orbidoig' (MAK-1). Thanks to Sam
Mauger for bringing the label to my attention and for supplying the scan.
