DISASTER
A doubtful one. Punk band Wasteland issued an EP, 'Want Not',
on the Ellie Jay label in June 1979 (EJSP-9261). The sleeve said the
the label was a product of Disaster Records, of Temple Road, Canterbury, but, as
can be seen in the scan which Nicholas Hough has kindly supplied, the label was
the standard Ellie Jay one with a copyright credit to 'Disaster
Records' in small print. By the standards of this site that
is not really enough to warrant Disaster being called a label in its own
right. Music Master however lists the EP as having a catalogue number of
DEPY-002, being on the Disaster label, and coming out in December 1979, which
seems to indicate that the EP may have been re-pressed. I have yet to
find any evidence on the net to back that up, and I suspect that it is
nothing more than a clerical error on MMs part, but I may as well leave this
page in place for the sake of interest (!). Wasteland released a single on
the Invicta label in the following year, 'Leave Me Alone' b/w 'Friends, Romans,
Countrymen' (ACE-014).
