DEPTFORD FUN CITY
An early Punk label (1977-80), owned by Miles
Copeland. Deptford Fun City was home to Squeeze - who hit the charts
repeatedly later on, after joining A&M - and the deliberately
anti-successful Alternative TV, among others. Singles appeared in a
DFC-00 series, and were distributed by Lightning; the A and B sides of the
picture labels showed different views of what I assume is
Deptford. The colour scheme was generally blue-and-white, but Squeeze's 'Packet Of Three' maxi-single (DFC-01) can be found with blue-and-pink labels (1). A couple of singles by Alternative TV had the band's logo on one side (5) and the titles on the other (2, 6), while DFC-11 had its own particular labels (8). The
other labels in Copeland's 'Faulty Products' group were Illegal and Step Forward
(q.v. both). Thanks to John Timmis for scans 5 and 6, and to Paul Winsall who provided all the other scans except
those of the Jools Holland EP.
