B. L. E.
A DIY label. B. L. E.
seems to have issued just the one record, an EP by Country band Ben Lee Rivers
& Smokey Road, 'Jody And The Kid', which came out in 1975. It was
recorded by custom recording concern Magnum studios (q.v.), from Hyde, and
its catalogue number, MAG-0008, was borrowed from Magnum's own numerical
series. The music is what you'd expect - decent covers of American
material - and Ben Lee had (has?) an authenically smokey
voice. Presumably B. L. E. stood for 'Ben Lee Enterprises' or
something similar. Manufacture was by Phonogram, as the
injection-moulded label indicates.
