BEVERLEY / BEVERLEY ARTISTES
The label of the Beverley Artistes Agency.
Beverley seems to have released just four records, two of them by Club
/ Cabaret act The Barrie Brothers and one each by Leah Bell
and Peter Lincoln. The ones which concern us were EPs. 'The Initial
Offering From The Barrie Brothers' contained the tracks 'Jean', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Put
Your Hand In The Hand' and 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling'.
It had a catalogue number of BB/IS/1002, which was part
of a series used by Impulse studios for their Wudwink label (q.v.) amongst others. There
was no date on that record; the numbering suggests 1974 but
as the EP can also be found on the Impulse Studio label with the same number
the Beverley version is probably a reissue. Happily
Peter Lincoln's EP 'A Little Bit More From Peter Lincoln' did have a date on
it: 1977. Its catalogue number, PX-1082, was taken from a series that was used
by CJMO Records (q.v.) for custom recordings. As can be seen
from the scan which Nicholas Hough has kindly provided, the label design and name
had changed slightly by that time. In addition to the tracks shown,
the EP offered versions of 'Send In The Clowns' and 'Music'. The
two albums were Leah Bell's 'My Corner Of The Sky' (IS/LB/155) and
the Barrie Brothers' 'He's My Brother' (IS/BB-117), both of which were from 1975-76.
The Beverley Artistes Agency is still going today (2012), and is
based in South Shields.
