ARCTURUS
The only single on the actual Arcturus label to which I
have ever seen any reference is the one which, by courtesy of Robert Bowes, is
shown above: 'The Circus Keeps On Turning' b/w 'Motor Car Madness', by Everyone
Involved. It was issued in 1972 as part of a 'Save Piccadilly'
campaign, and its catalogue number was ARC-3, which suggests that there were at
least two others. It is possible that the missing two records may
have accompanied a language course called 'Fast English' which was put
together by Alan Wakeman and published by Rupert Hart-Davis Educational
Publishers in 1971. There was certainly one such EP, featuring four songs
written by Alan Wakeman, recorded by Piccadilly Circus and published by Arcturus
Music; its subtitle was 'English Fast, Songs 5-8', which rather implies the
existence of 'English Fast, Songs 1-4'. An example can be seen on the 45cat site. The involvement
of Alan Wakeman in so much Arcturus music suggests that the label may have
been his.
