ANOTHER / ANOTHER RECORD LABEL
An
independent label from the Punk / New Wave years, based in Lancaster. Another
Records issued a single and an EP, with something of gap in time between
them. 'Running In The Street' b/w 'T.V. Friends', by Cardiac
Arrest (not the Tim Smith-led outfit) appeared in June 1979 with a catalogue
number of AN-001, but AN-002, Michael Byrd & The
Commercials', 'Sell Out Before The Fall Out' EP, didn't come out until
1981. In between the company's name changed from 'Another Records' to
'Another Record Label'. The common thread between the records was Michael
Byrd, who had provided guitar and vocals on the Cardiac Arrest tracks; according
to a sticker on the EP's sleeve The Commercials included some members of
Two-Tone band The Selecter. As can be seen from the scan which Barry Adcock has
kindly provided, the label of the Cardiac Arrest single consisted of a
small printed circle with the title and label name on it pasted onto a white
blank. The Michael Byrd EP had a more conventional label: it was white
with black printing, and it had the company's name at the top.
