ALLIGATOR

A small independent label devoted to records by British Rockabilly bands.  According to the 'Zig Zag Small Labels Catalogue 1978' Alligator was based at 11 Ferndale Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28.  It operated from 1978 to 1980, during which time it released four singles and a compilation album, 'Home Grown Rockabilly' (ALL LP-100; 1980).  Its main claim to fame is that the LP included the first recordings by The Meteors and The Polecats, both of which went on to become leading bands in the field.  Alligator singles were numbered in an ALL-100 series; they appear to have been dinked in order to give an American appearance.  Of the two that I have seen in the vinyl, one was pressed by Orlake while the other was made in France.  Thanks to Robert Bowes for the third scan.
