AGRA

Agra had a close relationship with custom recording firm Tank Records (q.v.); several items penned by artists who had records on Tank were published by Agra Music, which suggests that it may have started out as Tank's publishing arm.  As a label it issued at least three 7" records and three LPs in 1979-80.  Their catalogue numbers were borrowed from the series used by Tank, and the label design bore a close resemblance to that of the Tank label from that period.  The 'B' side label of the Barbara Jo Sound EP carried a picture of the artists (3), leaving the credits to go on the 'A' (2), which the Overland Express One did not (1).  Perhaps surprisingly, very few companies incorporated such pictures into their label designs - the only other one that I can think of that did so regularly is Ammo, though Tank and Kingsway did on occasions (q.v. all).  The content of the records varies from Country & Western to the Gaelic Folk of Targe; the sort of material that you'd think could easily have found a home on Tank.
