AFFINITY
The Jazz and
Contemporary music label of Charly Records (q.v.). Affinity
concentrated on albums, issuing a large number of them in the late '70s and
on into the '90s. It made only a couple of forays into the singles
market, neither of which made any great impact;
'Opium For The People' b/w 'Poet For Sale' by
Planet Gong (AFS-101; 1978) may be of interest due to its
links with Daevid Allen's 'Gong'. Charly was handled by President Records at the time of Affinity's
launch (April 1977) but it placed the new label's manufacture, marketing and distribution with Pye and moved over to
join its offspring a couple of months later.
