THE INDEX
A DIY label from 1978, and one of those cases where I've had to use the artist's name as an identifier. The artist in this case was a New Wave band from Cheltenham called
The Index, and their single 'Jetlag' b/w 'Total Bland' (INDY-001) would seem to have
been the label's only release. The band's
line-up featured Troy Tate, who went on to be a member of Shake, The Teardrop
Explodes, and Fashion, as well as pursuing a solo career. Thanks to
Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention, and to Robert Bowes for
providing the scan and additional information. The labels' 'smooth outer,
rough inner' appearance hints at an Orlake pressing.
