RIGHT
ON!
Right On! specialized in licensing American records for the
Disco and Northern Soul scenes. It was run by Dave Godin and was
his second venture into the record market, the first being the Soul City label
(q.v.) from the late '60s. Right On! received only a couple of
mentions in 'Music Week'. The first, in the issue of the 23rd of
August 1975, said that the label was Godin's and added
that it was intended to be an outlet for a whole
range of Soul music not just Disco. The second, in the
issue of the 10th of January 1976, observed that Right On! was licensed to
Pye. At that point, however, the label had only a few months
of life remaining: it issued its final two singles in May of that year. One
label design served throughout, and there was a company sleeve. Manufacture and distribution
were by Pye, and demos were marked after the Pye
fashion of the time (2).
