REXETTE
A small label, from Liverpool. Rexette was owned by
Roger Earle, who was also responsible for Eric's Records (q.v.). A
single by Moondog, 'Heads I Win' (LT-002; 1979) appears to have been its
only release - I have yet to confirm the existence on an LT-001. The
band hadn't got anything to do with the Irish group 'The Moondogs' who
recorded for Real Records. The label design featured a dog in a space
helmet looking down at a 'Dansette' type gramophone; a sort of His Master's
Voice for the space age. The word 'Rexette' only appears in small print on
the front of the gramophone, which probably explains why the label also
gets referred to as 'Moondog'. The majority, however, go for 'Rexette', so
I'll go with the flow.
