REMARKS

A DIY label from the early '70s.  The only Remarks record I have seen listed was a four-track EP by Len Kramer's Remarks, which came out in 1972 and featured 'Amarillo', 'My Way' as well as 'Folk Style' and 'Country Style' medleys.  Its catalogue number, VEN-104, suggests that there should be other Remarks out there, as does the sleeve note, which refers to this being Len Kramer's 'latest record' - the picture sleeve can be seen on the Discogs site.  The EP seems to have been re-pressed, as some copies can be found with red labels; it was also reissued with stuck-on labels giving the artists' name as David Kent And The Remarks - see 'David Kent'.  Johanne Bowhay, David Kent's niece, has kindly written to say that Len Kramer was a Jewish taxi driver who also acted as an agent and as an arranger of weddings and Bar Mitzvahs; the label was his - 'Remarks' being an anagram of 'Kramer's' - but the band and the stock of EPs were eventually taken over by her uncle.  Thanks to her for the information, and to Nicholas Hough for supplying the scan.
