PEPPERBIRD OF LIBERIA

Pepperbird of Liberia seems to have issued just the one record, a two-part version of the Gospel song 'Oh Happy Day' by A. B. Tolbert, who was the son of the Liberian president of that time.  It came out in 1977 with a catalogue number of POL-001.  The pressing marks on the labels look like those of a Linguaphone pressing, while a 'W' in the run-off suggests that RCA was responsible for the masters.  The single was definitely produced and manufactured in Britain, though doubts remain as to whether or not it was released over here - it was not unknown for foreign companies to get their pressings done in this country, 'Taurus' and 'Electro' of Malta being two examples.  Pending confirmation either way, I have decided to give Pepperbird the benefit of the doubt and include it on this site.  Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention.
