An independent label, based in Tottenham. This
Local label, the second of the '70s, was owned by John Collins, a TV music
producer and the man responsible for producing The Specials' 'Ghost
Town'. It issued a dozen singles in a somewhat desultory fashion from
1978 to 1987: 'Need Love Tonight', by The Detonators (LR-1; 1978) and Scandal's,
'Comic Book Hero' (LR-2; 9/79) were the only two to appear in the
Seventies. The Scandal record was Power Pop / Punk, but the
Detonators EP and most of the rest of the label's output was Reggae or Dance
music. Some of the '80s singles came out on the Special Request
label. 'At The Club' by Victor Romero Evans (LR-4V) got to No.1 in
the 'Black Echoes' Reggae Chart. Local has a website, here. Thanks
