JINGLE SINGLE
Home to a series
of multi-track singles featuring jingles intended for use by DJs. Jingle
Singles were produced by Geoff Gill, of Roche Studios. There were seven of
them, they were numbered in a JS-0 series, and they appear to have been issued
in 1975-76. They were advertised in the music press, were available via
mail order, and were intended to be issued monthly. Two different designs
were used: the first two singles had a sort of 'cloud map' design (1), while the
remainder featured a drawing of some vintage sound equipment (2). Fifteen
hundred copies of the first two records were made: JS-2 was pressed by
Orlake. More illustrations, and a fuller account, can be found in an
article on the Kernow Beat
website.
Other companies to produce records of jingles in the '70s were Jumbo
and EAP (q.v. both). Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing Jingle Single to my attention and for
providing both the second scan and the discography.
