HURLER
An independent label from the early '70s, run by Chris Ridley of the
Folk band 'Warm Gold'. Hurler was based in St. Columb, Cornwall: the
only records that I've seen on the label were the ones shown above, Warm Gold's
two 'A Taste Of Cornwall' EPs. The first had a catalogue number of
HURLS-008 and came out in 1972; the second was numbered HURLS-009 and came out
in 1976. It seems slightly odd that there should be a four-year gap
between the two, but that's what it says on the picture sleeves. Both
were pressed by Orlake. Catalogue numbers suggest that there may
have been seven other Hurler records previous to those, but Googling
reveals no sign of them and they probably do
not exist. Hurler is still a going concern as I write (2008),
though presumably its releases are occasional rather than
prolific. Its best-selling CD is also called 'A Taste Of Cornwall'.
