GAFFA 'N' PRODUCT
Gaffa was a DIY label
from the Punk era, dedicated to records by the band of that name. It
issued a couple of singles by them in 1979, 'You Know I Love You'
b/w 'Hearts Of Stone' (ZZZZS-001) and 'Attitude Dancing' b/w 'Long Weekend'
(ZZZZS-002); another, 'Man With A Motive' b/w 'Your Side / My Side' (ZZZZS-003),
followed in August 1980. Under the shortened name of "N"
Product it also hosted a single by Harry & The Atoms, 'Working For Nothing'
b/w 'Living For The Moment' (ATOM-1) in 1980 - 'The Atoms' were three members of
Gaffa, and 'Harry' was Harry Stephenson, formerly with Plummet Airlines.
Distribution of the Gaffa records was by Pinnacle. Gaffa (the
group) had previous form: they had had an EP out in 1977, on the Cleverly
Brothers label ('Normal Service Will Never Be Resumed',
CBM-002). Thanks to Robert Bowes for the second scan, and to
Stephen Howard of the Nottsmusicarchive
website for letting me know
about the Harry & The Atoms' single.
