FLAXTON
Flaxton was a popular
'functions' band in London and the South East for much of the '70s and
'80s. During that time it
put out a couple of self-financed records, at least one of which appeared
on the 'Flaxton Records' label. The record in question was a four-track EP; it
offered a cover version of 'Johnny B. Goode' along with three Country Pop tracks, in the
shape of 'Cracklin' Rosie', 'Take Me Home Country Roads' and 'One More Time'.
It was released in the 1970s and was manufactured by Orlake. According to Jim Cooper, who was the bass player with the band for much of that
time but joined after the EP was recorded, there was also
an LP, which came out a few years later - thanks to Jim for
getting in touch and supplying some much-needed background.
