C. H. WOOD
C. H. Wood was a Bradford-based photography firm set up by
Charles Harold Wood in the early 1920s. In its later years it
specialized in supplying photographs and short films for industrial,
commercial and advertising purposes. It made at least one record, the
one shown above, 'Assen', by The Cresters (CHW/RH-101; 1978), which featured a
song from a film made for Castrol on one side and an instrumental version on the
other. I would guess that it may have been intended for use as a
promotional tool by Castrol, not as a commercial product. The Cresters
also appeared in another of C. H. Wood's films, a documentary entitled 'Bradford
Re-Born'. Thanks to Robert Bowes for bringing the label to my attention
and supplying the scan.
