BREAD

A Reggae label, part of the Trojan group.  Bread lasted from 1970 to 1973.  It was initially an outlet for productions by Jackie Edwards but in the final year of its existence it featured tracks from a variety of producers, such as Alvin Ranglin and Bunnie Lee.  Its singles were numbered in a BR-1100 series, and its labels came in two different designs: an early colourful one (1) till BR-1116, and a later plain one which came in orange (3) from BR-1117 to BR-1120 and finally in white (4).  'All Over The World People Are Changing' by The Maytones (BR-1114; 1973) can be found with all three types of label, presumably as a result of a couple of re-pressings at different times.  The text 'Made in England' appeared on records from June 1971 onwards (2), starting with BR-1105.  Manufacture seems to have been generally by Orlake, as it was for most of Trojan's products at the time.  Thanks to John Timmis for the first scan and to Robert Bowes for the third and fourth.
