BPI

A Reggae label.  BPI was owned by Philroy Matthias and David Tyrone, and was therefore linked to Venture (q.v.).  It issued at least one single in the UK, 'African Book Of Rules' by Jah Son (BP-909; 1976).  The catalogue number of thatt record suggests that there ought to be others out there, but none of the Reggae sites that I have visited has listed any, so perhaps it's just an example of Reggae labels sometimes having illogical numbering.  The singles all appear to have all had large spindle holes, which was presumably an attempt to give them an authentic West Indian appearance; it worked, but it cut out part of the logo and some of the information.  Thanks to Sam Mauger for bringing the label to my attention, to Charlie Chalk of the 45cat site for permission to use his scan here, and to Mark Griffiths for supplying ownership and date details.
