BLACK ART
A Reggae label, owned by Lee Perry. The vast
majority of Black Art's releases came out only in Jamaica, but it put a couple
of them out in Britain as well: the Jah Lloyd single shown above, 'I And I A
Search For Survival' (BA-507) and Merry Maker's 'Bag A Weed'
(BA-508). Both came out in 1976, and presumably kept their original
Jamaican numbers. Tapir's Reggae site also lists three 12" singles,
which by virtue of their size and date - they were issued in 1980 - are beyond
the scope of this site. Perry's son Omar revived the label in the 2000s
and reissued a certain amount of its material. Thanks to Nicholas Hough
