BIRNBECK ISLAND

At a guess, another DIY label.  Gorilla Grip's 'King Of The Pipes' appears to have been Birnbeck Island's only release.  It came out in 1978, and had a catalogue number of KOM-019; the 'KOM' may be the initials of Keith Morris, who wrote the song.  The only reference to the single that I have been able to find claims that it is an example of 'Skate Pop', whatever that is, and that the man behind it used to be in Prog trio Dr. Z, who recorded a sought-after album for Vertigo.  Birnbeck Island itself is by Weston-Super-Mare, so I presume that Gorilla Grip were from that area.  Thanks to Sam Mauger for drawing the label to my attention and for providing the scan.  The label has the 'smooth outer, rough inner' look of an Orlake pressing.
