BANSHEE
An independent
record label belonging to Folk singer Mandy Morton, Banshee acted mainly as an
outlet for her records and for those of the groups which she
fronted. The company seems to have issued records only sparingly,
but there were at least two singles, which were separated by eight years. The '70s
one, by Mandy Morton & Spriguns, offered two tracks from the 'Magic Lady' LP, 'Song
For Me' and 'Little Inbetween' It came out in 1979
and had a catalogue number of BAN S-791. A 'K 129' in the run-off suggests that
the master was cut by Sound Manufacturing, but the pressing marks look like those of
Linguaphone singles. The '80s single saw Mandy teaming
up with Chris Mills on 'Winter Storms' and 'Children In Need' (BAN-1014; 1987).
